Jerusalem Prayer Centre  is situated in Kandy
(population 500,000) which is a city in the central hill country.

The last capital of the Kandyan kingdom before capture by the British in 1815, Kandy is a city full of Buddhist temples of which the  Temple of the Tooth Relic is the most famous.

How it all began

It all began in 1970 when Sister Sweety Lamb- who could be considered the pioneer of this ministry- was told by the Lord to leave the eastern province city she was living in with her parents as a young  girl, and came to Kandy. They moved to Kandy in faith, as God guided them every step of their way. Gradually a prayer group was formed, as young people decided to dedicate their lives to prayer and ministry.

However it was 1983 that people started to dedicate themselves for full-time ministry. As the numbers kept increasing, the need arose for larger and larger buildings with more space. Finally the Lord stopped our wilderness- wanderings and opened the way for us to move into our own place in 1997.
